VIA SAN GREGORIO ARMENO by sangwann

VIA SAN GREGORIO ARMENO

Shot taken on 8th July, 2017 – second day of our Sorrento holiday.
One of the old streets in Naples. In order to remember the places I visit I, very often, take shots of street names even if these have no photographic value.
This narrow street and its shops can be visited at any time of the year. It is full of small shops/artisan workshops which specialise in the making figurines for the Nativity scene. The large part of them are always open with handicraft products on display . Here one can buy all sorts of items suitable for a Nativity scene: from houses big or small, made in cork or cardboard - to mechanical items activated by electric energy such as windmills, waterfalls, even hand-painted, terracotta shepherds and 30cm-tall statues in hand-woven dress.
Shoppers can watch the artisans work and browse their goods in relative tranquility.
Thank you so much for looking and for the comments and fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
Wonderful information to go with this great capture of the shoppers browsing along the narrow street. Sounds like a great place to look and shop.

Great street scene. I really enjoy this type of shot myself when away from home. Great idea with the street name shot too. I do that occasionally. It really helps with orientation later. Nice work on this shot.

When I travel to new places I also like to take pictures of signs and information so I'll be able to remember what I was photographing when I get home. I like the busy-ness of this street and the grand building at its end. Good shot!

I like the low angle you've used - it gives a great depth to the composition. Love the colours too. Your street scenes are always so interesting to view - a mark of the photographer's interest, I think. :-)
I have little sense of direction and often take photos to help me find my way back to the car park when out by myself, looking at them on the camera's screen as I go.
