Fourth day of our Portugal holiday.
This palace looked like a witch's palace - Gruntilda was a fiction witch.
In the little free time we had in Sintra, Christine and I, together with another couple decided to go look for the Royal Palace of Sintra. We were following the road signs as we had no map. It was quite a long walk and by the time we got to this queer place it was time to go back. I took two, three shots from the street and went over to the security guard who was on guard. It was difficult to communicate with him as he only spoke Portughese. In fact I had to look up the place on the internet when I returned home and I found out it was the Quinta da Regaleira, an extravagant 19th century gothic mansion that is surrounded with some of the most elaborate gardens of Sintra..
I later came to know that the Royal palace was on top of a hill, much further away than I had expected.
Yesterday I went to Mdina for the annual Mdina Medieval festival and came back with a sackful of photos. They have to stay in line as I am still processing our Portugal pictures and haven't even looked at those of our Seville holiday just fifteen days after the Portugal one.
Many thanks for your views, comments, and FAV’s. They are very much appreciated.
