Two more houses in the Passeig de Gracia next to each other and on the opposite side of the road from Casa Mila. Next to them is also Casa Batllo which is undergoing restoration and has its façade covered.
Do you see the yellow ribbon on the balcony? There were many around Barcelona hanging from balconies of all kind. They symbolize the people’s cry for the Spanish authorities to free those arrested (and convicted, I think) and others living in exile for holding the referendum in Catalunia for the region to gain its independence from Spain.
The two houses are:
• Casa Amatller: left and two top shots. Designed by Puig i Cadafalch and built in 1900
• Casa Lleó i Morera: two right bottom shots. Built between 1902 and 1906, it is a masterpiece by Lluis Domenech i Montaner
Many thanks for your views, comments, and fav’s. They are very much appreciated.
Nice collage- that block certainly is a jumbled combination of art! I have a friend who lives in Catalunia- it's a very hot topic right now and he's not sure they will actually succeed in pulling away from Spain but I think he said they do have the financial stability thanks to having more employed people than not. So if they can manage to separate legally they will probably survive. Time will tell! Great pictures.
Great shot of those nice decorations on the building.
( It need lots of love to live in buildings like a water tower. You`re very limmited in what you can do as it has to be preserved, the space is asking much creativity and the heathing in winter cost a lot .)
