Ireland – third day of our holiday (20th July, 2019).
Finally arrived at Kinsale we walked up to Multose Church (Church of Ireland)
This historic church is one of the most important landmark buildings of Kinsale. Originally built in 1190 its most dominant feature, the impressive belltower, is in fact one of the few remaining features from the original Norman church. The fourth stage of the belltower and its decorations have been added in 1750.
This church has undergone various improvements and additions throughout its 800 year history. As one of the most important churches in the country it has been used on multiple occasions for political ends, one of the most notable being during the English Civil War when Prince Rupert declared Charles II the new King after the execution of Charles I. Thank you very much for looking and for the comments and fav’s on yesterday’s picture.
All of these are great shots and give us a real sense of what this place is like as a whole and with close ups of the beautiful stain glass and also the stonework and door features. Fav
Love the old church and the stained glass windows. I always wanted to take trips around and take photos of all the stained glass windows that could be found. They are so beautiful and interesting. Fav!
