Ireland holiday - seventh day (24th July, 2019).
One of the main attractions of Dingle is Fungie (or the Dingle Dolphin). We pre-booked our boat trip to go and see this lovely mammal and I don’t regret it even though it was a big task to capture it on camera as you never knew when or where it would pop up for a split second to dive back into the deep again. This is the best shot I took of it.
For those who have never heard of this dolphin, Fungie is a male common bottlenose dolphin who is known to live in very close contact with humans in Dingle. He was first seen in Dingle harbour in 1983, and continues to seek out human contact in the area over thirty years later.
Fungie is known to interact playfully with swimmers, surfers, kayakers and divers in the water. There haven't been any recorded cases of Fungie being aggressive towards humans. Fungie is the first recorded occurrence of a dolphin interacting positively with humans in the wild in Ireland. (source Wikipedia)

A super shot! Dolphins seem to like human contact. When I walked part of the Isle of Man coastal path some years ago, one swam alongside me as I made my way along a beach section of the route.
