I went to investigate the weeping beech at the bottom of the garden and I think it's going to be okay! It looks like there is actually blossom coming as well as the leaves. I don't recall this ever happening before but that doesn't mean it hasn't! I need some horticulture expert to fill me in.....I think when plants are under threat due to climate/physical stress they produce flowers to regenerate the seeds.....maybe that's what's going on!
Anyway, I thought it looked rather special.
Three good things
1. Had a gentle day as I'd been up feeling sick etc during the night!
2. Feeling a lot better this evening.
3. Interesting documentary about Singer Sewing Machines (made in Clydebank, Scotland) on TV. Apparently, 1 in 5 homes in the world had one in the house! Mum did, and I did - my granny gave me money for mine when Allan and I got engaged so I could make my bridesmaids dresses......which I did!
Really a pretty image. I wonder if you could call your local government horticulture office and describe the tree’s condition? Or, take a little branch to your local garden center, they could probably tell you what’s going on. It really does look like it’s recovering but it would be good to know what caused the issues. I am so impressed that you made your bridesmaid’s dresses!
One of our favourite trees. We had more beech nuts than we have ever seen before last Autumn on ours after that very very dry Summer and so it seemed to be keen to reproduce in difficult conditions rather than retreat. Maybe it is nature's regeneration plan?
Thank you for your lovely comments ....I think it's going to be just fine.
