Anna is starting Suzuki cello this month - we are lucky enough to have a music teacher in the primary school who works with the 2nd and 3rd graders to learn violin, viola or cello. As far as I know, this is unique to our school district in this area, and it's a program that's in high demand - so Anna is a lucky girl to have been chosen to participate!
This is a quarter size cello - it's so tiny! But all the pretty details are there, just in miniature. I love the little heart in the bridge.
What a fantastic and close up shot. Oh, I wish more school districts would get the music programs back. So many kids are missing out. My husband and I, although both took private clarinet lessons, started playing in our school bands at about grade 4. Our daughter also took private clarinet lessons and started with school band at grade 3. All three of us played in school bands and orchestras through college. Every child needs a "group" to identify with growing up. Music and band and orchestra were ours -- all three of us. And all of us have kept some of our "band and orchestra friends" throughout our adult life.
