He often makes himself a nest - of blankets, or toys, or my arms, and says "Mommy, I safe now." This afternoon he nodded off in my lap after he got "safe". He was napping peacefully while I heard about the terrible things happening in Paris. I wish I could know that my children - that everyone's children - would be as safe and well always as my littlest guy was in this moment.
My heart and my prayers go out to the victims and their families. Let there be peace. For all of our children, please, let there be peace.
Oh how much we want our children to have a gentle world to grow up in! It's heartbreaking to think their innocence might be shortened as they learn of Life's Wicked side. May you always be able to keep that darling son safe! Thank you for joining in solidarity with the people of Paris.
