My new lens arrived today, just in time to catch the tail end of band camp rehearsal.
This is the Canon 85mm, wide open at f/1.8, just to see what I could do with it.
Yes, true love.
I would obviously need a longer lens for individual shots from behind the fence - these were taken from the sidelines of the field - but who needs individual shots when you can get group shots like this?
(I promise I won't be posting field band photos every day. Next chance I have to take any is next Wednesday, anyway!)
@lisainstpete Thanks - I wavered between those too, and even thought briefly about splurging hard on a (very) used older model of the 70-200 f/2.8 L lens...it's so hard to pick one that will do everything!
Great picture! According to my band-girl you do not really need individual shots, as band is family ;)
By the way I do not mind seeing band-photos every day.
