Got to have my first go at a "proper" newborn shoot. Man! I do not envy professional newborn photographers - took me about 2hrs to do what they probably do in 30 min and I took about 300 shots - out of which I got maybe 10-15 that are reasonable. But despite sweating my butt off (with the heater on in lovely spring time weather) it was heaps of fun - for a hobby :-)
Thank you all for your comments and favs! So much appreciated
@amandak107 - I got this great DVD on photographing newborns but I will try and summarise the things I found most helpful
Shoot in natural light (window or door) unless you have a good offcamera lighting set-up. I used quite a high ISO as even though they are sleeping they move quickly and you will find a little hand or foot blurs
Have a heater on so they don't feel chilled and white noise if its a newborn.
If they are less than two weeks old it is very easy to resettle them but better if you do it as if mum does baby will smell the milk and want food. Be patient ad wait for bub to be completely settled before moving them into a new position. Have a nappy cover to go over this disposable and save the naked baby shots for last in case there is an accident :-) Enjoy and hope it goes well
