with an out of focus fly.
I got a new lens (24-105) the other day and decided to try out it's (and my) macro capability. It is taken outside, natural light. The lady bug is on a rowan. SOOC except for crop and watermark. Oh and tripod is still on my to buy list, so...
Thanks for all your comments and favs - they keep me going. Critic that helps me master this art is also welcome.
Good you mentioned the fly, I would not noticed :-) Congrats on a new lens! Let me know how you like it. It seems to do a great job with macro. Did you use a kit lens until now?
@zuzana Thanks Zuzana! The plan was to use a kit lens for a while and a 70-200 f/2.8 lens that we bought for the sports, but I ended up using the tele all the time, as I unfortunately dropped the kit lens and it would not AF properly any more :( Now I have developed a good muscle carrying the tele around :P But it was easier to learn just one lens at a time I guess and to decide what features I should look for when getting my second lens. The main dilemma was do I like f2.8 (24-70mm) so much better than f4 (24-105) with IS and longer range... decided not - it is just one stop. So far I am happy with the 24-105 range on my crop body and also like the blur it creates zoomed out with aperture wide open. I guess I know more in couple of months :)
The contrast between the red of the lady bug and the white buds is just beautiful. With a focal lenght of 105mm and an exposure time less than appr. 1/125 its very hard not to get motion blur, therefore a steady tripod is definitely a good investment for low light situations. Whenever possible I also use a remote shutter release.
