Today was a day set aside to explore the arts and culture that Indianapolis has to offer. We set out to the Indianapolis Museum of Art to see the photography exhibit that is showing there and take in all the amazing art that is there. Ironically, when I got to the museum I found that I forgot my SD card and wouldn't be able to take photos of my own. It was heartbreaking since I have a new camera that I am trying to practice using.
I was pretty bummed until we found out that not only does the museum of art have a wonderful collection of art but they have a bar in their cafe!
What could be better? Art, wine, and people talking in the hushed whispers usually reserved for libraries and funeral homes? Not to mention the cafe is gorgeous and overlooks the fountains with comfy couches and chairs, it is pretty much the best bar ever. I didn't hear one person's conversation either! Fantastic, a dream come true! Everyone using their inside voices!
We got a little distracted with lunch and drinks but did make it to the exhibit and it was really quite interesting. It was photos from some famous painters in Europe during the time that the portable camera/snapshots were first invented. Everything from building of the Eiffel Tower to nudes of one guy's wife...of course. Wonder how long it took them between the invention of this portable camera and suggesting that they take naked pictures with them? lol
After that we went back down to the lobby for food and fun and completely lost track of time. We were just heading to look at more art when we found out the museum closes at 5pm. What kind of bar does that!? lol
It was one of the best days I have had in a long time with one of my friends. We had so much fun just chatting and laughing in the beautiful cafe. He and I always have a great time and he is definitely the friend that I can always count on being able to have fun no matter what we are doing. We make fun out of nothing and that is the product of years of friendship and silliness. In the end we used my IPAD to take some pictures and most of all made another great memory to put in the vault for a rainy day. =)
