DONNIE by sdutoit

DONNIE

This was a surprise gift from my children. They wanted a name...

Saying Gift in European Languages
In Galician the word is - don
I decided on "DONNIE"

My friend in America calls my husband Don and not Daan. Sad to know that he will never share this surprise... On 20/10/2016 he was shifted from the hospital to rehab. At this stage he is not doing well. They gave him medicine to calm him down. Yesterday 21/2016 he did not wake up. When we visit him today 22/10/2016 I hope he is awake. It was very sad yesterday, my son wanted to greet his father before he flew back to the UK.
Absolutely love the processing! Looks to be fun to drive- hope it is. Fav!

It takes a tremendous amount of love and courage to go through these trials. What a wonderful gift from your children. I hope all of you will have precious memories to carry you through and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

They must have sedated him for a good reason! Sad for your son but at least he is breathing! And you can give him a kiss on his warm cheek!

Is this a real car??

Wonderful processing on this shot that looks great on black. So sorry to hear about the turn of events with your husband. Life can be cruel at times.
But it is nice to know your son was home for a bit and you got a surprise gift from all your children. That is precious.

What a lovely and useful gift. It may be sad for you to see your husband like that but for him, it is very comfortable, I'm sure of that.

@sdutoit Hi Sylvia -- We are partners this week. It seems strange to give you a challenge in the midst of what is clearly a long and heartbreaking time. If you would like a challenge, I'd like you to photograph a person in the grips of a strong emotion (positive or negative as the case may be). If this challenge isn't good at the moment, as an alternative how about photographing an inscrutable person?

What a lovely gift from your kids. Such a traumatic time for you and your family at the moment. You are such a strong person Sylvia, I really admire your spirit. Take care.

My husband slept a lot the last year of his life, I think he used sleep to escape a world that was getting scarier.

@francoise Thanks for the challenge. We were at hospital all night. He was transferred to ICU. I do not have a lot of time but how about a photo of something that gives you a lot of you in live?
