This didn't go to market ...

... in spite of my brother in law who was helping sort tools putting it with the stuff to sell. He rightly felt I wouldn't need a planer, but when he was helping me pack the car for market, I avoided passing this to him. On the spur of the moment I suddenly decided I had to get back into still life photography again, and light painting like I used to before Don died, and this looked like an ideal subject to get me started so I "snuck" it away. I need to work on my light painting skills again - avoid the shadow on the left for example, so you might see more of this planer in future while I attempt to perfect the technique.
it has such lovely textures and shapes - it will reward you as you keep on exploring it

It’s a lovely subject. I wish I’d kept some of my father’s wood working tools. As soon as I saw this image I thought of him.

that sure is an old and well used planer. Have fun exploring the beauty of it.

@narayani Thanks Narayani. I think most of our Dad's must've had hand tools like this. These days they mostly use power tools which are so much more efficient but lack the visual charm

@anniesue @ludwigsdiana @beckyk365 Thanks so much Annie-Sue, Diana and Becky. I am having fun with it - keeping me up late at night trying to improve on the light painting!
