Today we went to the top of Swartberg Pass and scattered Don's ashes at this sign - significant to me as representing the start of the last leg of the trip to our special and happy place - Gamkaskloof or "Die Hel".
Not quite 6 months ago we had our last wonderful holiday together before Don went into hospital for his back operation, and I took a photo of our bakkie at this sign. So now it is the start of my own personal journey towards healing and recovery. I am so grateful to have had the children and their spouses supporting me and there with me. They have never been here before, so it was a journey of discovery for them.
Although it wasn't planned this way, it seemed significant to me that it was the first day after the winter solstice, so from this day forward the days are getting longer.
