Treated myself to a lovely log fire in my fireplace for the 2nd night in a row. It is bitterly cold, and Eskom, our power utility have plunged the country into another round of rolling blackouts, euphemistically called loadshedding. For 2 nights in a row we have been scheduled for 6pm-8pm blackout (although last night it lasted until after 11pm), so the fire provides light to supplement my candles, as well as warmth and a cosy feel
Beautiful shot which has a great warm glow. We are off twice a day for five hours in total. I so wish they could get there act together. Rather gatvol of all of this now.

The blackouts are indeed very inconvenient. I wish I was more clever about understanding electricity and batteries and solar energy to become more self reliant. The problem with getting complicated is that unless one knows how to maintain it yourself, it means callout costs to get experts in cos nothing is built to last these days.
@ludwigsdiana I totally agree. I am also gatvol. Especially when I haven't had work for 3 months due to Covid shutting the world down, and then I get a bit of work and can't do it because of Eskom shutting us down!
@777margo Thanks Margo. They aren't doing a planned maintenance shutdown during mid winter. This has been going on for years - due to lack of maintenance and corruption so now the electricity generation plants are breaking down frequently. The people at the top of this government owned facility have been living the high life paying themselves huge salaries and increases, and paying other people linked to the ANC govt - namely the Guptas, huge sums of money for non existent coal and maintenance services that never happened.
