Brilliant macro - so tack sharp within your dof - and the purple in the background wonderfully compliments the petal spots. Congrats Sean! Stop taking such gorgeous shots, I'm dying without any spots of color over here!
@newbie good question. The fence is a dark reddy brown colour. I shot it while it was in shade and the flower was in sunlight. I underexposed the shot by a couple of f stops to stop the flower being bleached out a minuscule level tweak and bingo, that's the result! So, an experiment that had a lucky outcome.
@louisefrance Thank you Louise, I really am grateful for the Fav. Good question, you clearly know your Hellebores. I was laid on our lawn shooting up at the flower while my wife held the flower up, it was the only way to shoot it!!
@seanoneill As a bad Australian, I only ever heard their 'Love in bright landscapes' album, which, as I recall had a couple of decent tracks (though I assume would feel very 80s if I listened again - I might give it a try)
This is another beauty Sean! I've always wanted to have hellebores in my garden, although I think they are not suited to my climate zone. Pity - they are breathtaking!
Another amazing photo ! You're such an inspiration Sean. I loved reading how you slightly underexposed the shot. Tips like that are so useful for beginners like me. Thanks!
Love the toning of the flower with the fence. You have photoed it well, great focus. I have a hellebore in my garden but its quite plain, its a shame they droop their heads so much, sometimes its hard to see the inside. Intersting tip on the shooting of the shot, will try that.
