I coach cricket at Kegworth Town CC as a volunteer.
Tonight was a night off for me , because I am not involved in our U17s, but Sam played, so I went down to watch him.
I can think of very little that is more quintessentially English than a game of cricket played on a spring evening on a village green or playing field, with the church in the background!
I have not zoomed in on the wickets being hit by the ball, to preserve the overall look of the shot. However, if you view large you will see that I have caught the shot just as the ball hits the stumps and knocks back the batsmans off stump and sends the bails flying.
We lost the game, though Sam did well.
This was shot in bad light, so I am quite pleased with the shot!!
You sound like my husband who has at least 4 hats at our local club, our son plays there too. Down here in the South East we have yet to play a game this season, we have had so much rain!
@jackie8 Thanks Jackie. Yes hubby sounds familiar. I run 2 teams, help out behind the bar, etc etc. I've had 1 game out of 8 so far, but this week seems more promising.
A perfect English shot & you can get the feel of it just by looking at this photo !! The church spire is the finishing touch !!! So good to be involved with your local community in this way too !
