We have some very pretty Aquelegias in our garden.
I wanted to take a shot today that looks a little like a botanical watercolour, but with a twist.
This is shot with a piece of green card behind it, in natural light, so the twist is not using a white background.I am a big fan of Evelyn Binns watercolours, so this is my take on an Evelyn Binns, though with the twist.
I am not sure about the green leaf behind the left hand bud, but then it is a faithful representation.
I thought the leaf was a shadow so for me it doesn't detract from the photo at all. I like the background as it's a soft natural colour and sometimes white can be a bit too harsh. They are very delicate and attractive plants and this photo demonstrates this perfectly.
your choice of background elevates this whole picture so much, don't think the leaf affects the overall composition, I didn't notice it on my own - Fav
I'm so impressed that you spelled out the botanical name! I am always too lazy and just go with Columbine. . .your processing is so perfect for what you were trying to do. Gorgeous!
@fannyb Cheers, my Forget me nots are on. Nice one!! have asked my mate about D3100 and D3200 for you today with the 18-55mm kit lens. Should get a price in a couple of days.
Stunning plant ! Love how you make the photo look like a botanical print. It would be great to have some more photos of plants in this style, frame them and put up for display.
