Overarching all these reasons is that my camera was with me all day, and I probably have 100 shots worthy of posting!!
This morning I practised being a modern man, and washed the school uniform, before heading out for a walk in the woods around Fox Hill. I was rewarded with my first ever sighting of our local Kingfisher flying along Kingston Brook. I have lived here 12 years and never seen it so I am still off the scale excited.
Then I drove over to New Covert with the boys to get some snow shots before the rain came and washed it all away. In about 10 minutes the sky changed completely from like this to having a lot of blue with a pinky lilac hue to the clouds. You will probably get to see the latter another day!
Here is a previous shot of New Covert which has featured quite a bit in my project in recent months.
Then Sam, Ben and I took the train to Leicester to see Leicester Tigers play Wasps at rugby, a game that they won 34 points to 8. Very enjoyable indeed and some great action shots were secured!
Then it was back to Hathern for a lovely evening with my inlaws who cooked us a very nice roast dinner.
So, a very contented 3 of us returned home in time for a nice phone call from Rebecca, and the lads are tucked up in bed while I mess about with my photos.
What a day!! Such simple pleasures but sounds like one so worth while to remember. This is such a perfect shot i love it and would love to see more from your travels.
I really like the cool simplicity of this. There's such little contrast between the blue and white, and the tree sets it all off. It makes me happy. Fav!! Glad you had a great day!
@rockinrobyn Thank you Robyn, When I saw this on screen earlier I was rather pleased with the simplicity and the contrast, so am delighted that you have seen these things too :)
Beautiful, minimal photo, a bit in the style of @still_beachradish, love the contrast! No snow out there today is there Sean? Ours has all washed away during the night. Sounds like a perfect day yesterday, it's so good when we have a succesful photographic session and to spend it with your boys too - heaven! Do you 'Flickr', I put a few photos on there last year, but don't find it as friendly as here!
Stunning capture. Love the softness and the very subtle tones. Sounds like you had a wonderful day. Can't wait to see some of the 100 photos you captured. FAV!
@automaticslim I have and iot looks great, it will be posted in the next couple of days. I've been umming and aahing over buying Silver Efex Pro all weekend so have been hanging off psoting this.
@automaticslim on its default B+W conversion it might sound strange but the sky has a slight pinky grey tinge to it!! Must get eyes tested!! I've ;looked at the presets in PS and the high contrast bluie filter is my favourite as the sky and land almost ,erges apart from the trees and the horizon on either side of the tree. I will stick it in a vacant album slot a little later, have kid duties calling me! Thanks for your comments and fave on the Track through the trees shot, sometimes when I take a shot I do do with certain people in mind, that one was with you in mind!
Aw, thanks Sean! As for seeing colours in monochrome images, that's two of us who need to see our opticians then. Absolute murder for spot retouching sessions!
I think you must have captured this tree now in all weather conditions. I'm really wondering what a collage would look like. Wouldn't it be great to see this spot throughout the year? Nice picture!
@jyokota Thank you Junko. There is really no need for your apology, but I am so happy that you like this photo. I think it is my favourite of the 100,000+ photos i have in my archive, so when I have someone else say something good about it it is very satisfying.
@guttersniperebecca Thank you, I am delighte dthat you like it that much.
@missk Thank you, yes we've had a smashing day :)
@jantan Thanks Jan, he may have influenced my shot just a smidgeon!!
Silver Efex Pro does look very good, it's a crying shame that there's no prospect of a Linux port becoming available.
Went to see Django last night and totally agree with you. Not really sure it needed QT and his Aussie mates at all.
