Nice one - we can see those turbines from our seaside place in Hunstanton on the other side of the Wash - I think they are glorious and really don't know why people hate them so much!
You have imaginative compositions very often, this is one, and I like it. Three layers - an intentional blur, a thin line of graphic shapes, and 50% of the photo given to negative space. Very few of us would have thought of handling this scene this way.
Just had to come and look at this again. Can't believe you have only had 2 faves on this one. Tough crowd you've got going here :) Glad to see Andreas and I are on the same wave length @primitiveprobe
@primitiveprobe Thank you Andreas, I am pleased that you like this, as you really are a master of B+W. @stuckinoz Thank you Janelle. I really appreciate your comments and support, and the favs act as an endorsement for me of what I am trying to do in experimenting this year. It isn't everyone's cup of tea, but as it is my project I can live with it. I have had several photos recently where people have gone as far as saying that they don't like my processing. I would occasionally pass comment on a photo and say what if you did this... but I don't think I'd ever go as far as saying that I don't like a shot. If it makes folk happy to say they don't like something, so be it. Personally, this shot and processing does it for me too. Every now and again I shoot or process something and it makes me say, wow, what have I just done. This shot was one of them, as were the other versions. It tells me that I need to live nearer the sea!! Thank you so much though, I really appreciate your sentiments, and they mean a huge amount to me.
@seanoneill I'm suprised that people would specifically say they didn't like the processing, I'm more like you and would suggest: what about if you tried this?
Can't please everyone though, and as long as you like it, that's what counts. I also really appreciate your comments, especially your comment on my Written room shot yesterday, where you said you thought it was one of the best in my project. Made me feel all warm and happy inside :)
@stuckinoz You are welcome. I just looked at it again. I've faved just over 1200 photos in the last 14 months, and I would put it in my top 20, for originality, composition, and just overall bloody brilliance. I have been thinking for sometime now about picking out my top 5o favs including my own, and asking people if I can have a copy to create my own photobook. Get ready to be asked :)
@seanoneill@stuckinoz Sean, you've changed style dramatically now that you're in your experimental year, gone darker, more eerie and much harder on the processing. That's bound to put some people off you know, in particular those who more looks for what the want to see than what you want to convey with your photo. Also, if I ever in passing make a comment that could be considered disrespectful, please let me know. I'm not a native English speaker you know.
@primitiveprobe Thanks Andreas, no you are always incredibly supportive. I expect that experimentation will polarise views, wait and see one of today's shots, the one with the lighthouse!! What I am doing is only shooting once or twice a week. I could easily take a diary shot today, but it will be a repeat of a shot from last year, so it is far better to try new things where possible. I actually have no issue if people don't like a shot, but I am surprised that people actually say so. I'm all for suggestions, but am not sure what expressing dislike achieves. We are all different.
@stoat No I didn't Debbie, I actually whacked the saturation up to 80 and then converted it to a negative to accentutae all shades. I'm glad you like it, thanks so much for the fav.
