Gate and Barn by seanoneill

Gate and Barn

A shot from earlier this year that I had never processed.

I have converted this to square format, and added a grad filter to the sky in SFX Pro.
like this but other has way more atmosphere and depth :) IMHO

A beautiful lonely barn, beautifully composed shot Sean..great textures of stone & beautiful light.

I love both barns: the one in the alternate album has certainly a more dramatic feel with the processing of the sky and higher contrast, but I like the perspective/POV in this one which includes the gate...

I love both, the other is certainly more dramatic but I really like the gate in this one, and the 3d type effect.

Love the depth the gate adds to the image in this one.

I like the gate in this, and I am always a big fan of the square crop, although rarely think to use it myself.

Love what the gate adds to this one. Nicely captured, Sean!

Excellent shot, love the square format. I did square format in-camera on my last day in NYC, those should show up on my project in early 2014.

@soboy5 I look forward to seeing them Danny.

I prefer the first one but I like how you have used the gate to lead the eye into the frame.

Terrific shot - it appeals to my need to get away from it all sometimes! Great b&w contrast.

Another lovely black and white - super landscape.

great shot and processing!

Great composition.

Stunning image :)

Ahhh Sean.... all these b&w shots are just divine. I've been AWOL for far too long, so too many to comment on, but, just.... wow.

Is there a reason you're doing so much work in black & white now? I'm sure I missed something. Whatever the reason may be, the results are a real treat!

I hope life is treating you splendidly and that all is wonderful in your world. :)

super capture :)

Very nice, Sean, but prefer the other one! More drama!

Lovely composition. According to the judge at my local photography club this week "square is the new third".

Like both of these -- but this one's my favourite composition. The gate really leads us into the photo. Very nice.

I love the way the gate invites us into the scene.

This is lovely, too. Very tranquil scene. I especially like the open gate and the way it guides the eye to the barn and beyond.

I'm a great fan of square format when it works with the composition. I think this really does. Your lines are so good in this piece. The fence in line with the barn. I also really like the texture of the traditional English stone fence. Where was this? It almost looks like Wales (one of my favourite places)

@apogee2012 It is in the Peak District, which is within an hour of where I live.

Love the gate, it leads you to the scene. Great shot.

Wonderful shot Sean, I once posted a photo of a gate/ field on here and somebody commented that the gate should be open to 'allow you into the field". This illustrates why perfectly.
