Yesterday, one of my sporting heroes achieved a milestone in his career that will never be surpassed.
Today, a milestone for me. My photos received their 100,000th view a few minutes ago. All that way back in January 2012 I could not have imagined such a milestone. Thank you to all past and present who have taken the time to view and comment on my project. It wouldn't be the same without you.
I wish I had more time to reflect, but I need to leave for Birmingham to see Billy Joel tonight, then off to Southampton all day tomorrow and a very busy Sunday too!!
One thing that I can say is that with the encouragement of my friends and family I have developed a photographic style that i am happy with, and also developed skills in other areas as well. Back in January 2012 I had this big lump of technology called a camera, and had little idea how to use it. I like to think I have made some progress...
So, with little time to take a picture today, this is a new processing of an old shot, of my old favourite, Ratcliffe Power Station, where I wanted to darken the sky and accentuate the clouds.
I would like to dedicate it to followers new and old, but especially to the small group of you who have been following me and encouraging me for so long now. You all know who you are, if you think "that's me" you can be sure it is.
I love this shot - and I love Billy Joel - the songs of my youth. Please give him a round of applause from me. I have no idea how to find out how many views I've had. I'll have to go looking for that. Enjoy! Fav.
Congrats on that milestone! It does seem a long time ago that we all started. Great image as always of this and very dramatic. Wish I was going to see Billy Joel. Always liked him, have a good time.
Wow, 100,000? That's awesome! And not at all surprising .
I love the processing you've done here. Fantastic work.
P.S. I wanted to thank you for that '100 year old man' book suggestion... I so thoroughly enjoyed reading it and was sorry when I got to the end. Love books that leave me wanting more! Thank you!
Fabulous -- 100000 -- so many zeroes!!!! I do love your work and hope you consider me one of your 'new' follower/friends. And your style is truly distinctive.
Congratulations on your milestone - well deserved.
I'm late to the party but I sincerely hope it will continue for a long time to come, I'm enjoying your albums very much.
I love the sunflare in this and the way the vapour from the towers is illuminated.
Incredible milestone to reach. This is one of my favourite of your power station shots, I love the sun flare and the contrast with the dark negative space. Fav.
Congratulations on the momentous milestone, Sean. The processing has given this scene such strength and attitude. I love the backlit stacks and exhaust with that voluminous negative space up above. :-)
That is a great milestone to reach Sean......congratulations & isn't it a wonderful achievement in almost two years........ how you have come on!! I like your style & you picked a good subject here!
@taffy No Taffy I don't think you're one of my newer followers ;-), I consider you one of the long stayers, because we've followed each other since the beginnings of your project. Thank you, I am glad you find my style distinctive,
@dulciknit Thank you Alison, I value your comments very much, and I have no plans to go anywhere, there is so much I want to do still, so I look forward to following your project for a long time to come.
@cazla Thank you Cazla, You are so supportive of my project, and I know you have a lot on your plate. I have seen your style and skills blossom in a very short period of time and enjoy following you.
@primitiveprobe Thanks Andreas, I think we have a very similar eye and both think a less is more approach works. I enjoy your project so much and you have been with me for a very long part of this incredible journey. One day we will have that beer together.
@happypat Thanks Pat, you have been such a supporter of my photography since the early days, I can't imagine life without your 3 good things and tales of the B+B. It is like my own little 365 soap opera to look in on each day. I am deeply appreciative of your comment about how I have come on. It inspires me.
Well done Sean: I too like your distinctive style. Your work is always thoughtfully processed. I hope you enjoyed Billy Joel - my son and daughter-in-law were there too!!
This is fabulous. I love overall darkness and the the flash of light. I'm drawn to photos like this and enjoy experimenting with b&w most of all. Enjoy your weekend and congrats on the views!
Congratulations on your milestone, Sean! That is a mind boggling number! It is a testament to your commitment to this project and your skill as a photographer. Your images pull people back. Love this shot. Each of your power station shots are different, interesting and beautiful. Hope you are enjoying Billy Joel. I saw him in concert many years ago in Seattle. It was a fantastic show. The "Piano Man" is one of my all time favs.
