Mere Hill landscape ~1 by seanoneill

Mere Hill landscape ~1

The sky was so beautiful this morning. It is hard to believe how quickly this has turned to rain this afternoon.

I stopped here for a couple of minutes on my way to the office. I drove past one of my more regular landscape haunts on the way, but resisted the temptation to go somewhere different!

Sad news about the death of actor Roger Lloyd-Pack. The scene from Only Fools and Horses about his character Trigger's broom will live with me forever. Comic genius.

Sad news also about the death of Steve Evans, who had been on the Richard Bacon radio show several times in the last year talking about his battle with cancer. When I heard the last interview he gave to Richard on tuesday I confess that I sat in the car with tears streaming down my cheeks.

R.I.P. to both of you.
Oh this is stunning an instant fav

@melsprague Thank you Mel, that is very kind of you.

Fabulous black and white shot, love the whispy clouds and the tracks leading you into the picture.

Have to say I thought of RLP and his broom when you posted your shot of the chap sweeping up . I wonder how many brooms he has used. Very sad , some iconic moments never to be repeated.
The tracks in the field lead you off into the distance, and once again a dramatic sky draws you In.

that's a great pic. I didn't realise Roger was ill. First thing I thought of when I read of his death was his broom, 27 years old and stil going. Great stuff.

Definitely a fav, I need to capture clouds this beautifully.

I was drawn to your colour version on the thumbnails. I'm not really a fan of b&w but this is great - love all the textures and the sky is amazing!
January 16th, 2014
Amazing sky & much more dramatic....runs close to the colour version I must admit but I do like things a natural colour in the countryside.

Another amazing sky, lovely lead in lines
January 16th, 2014
Fab shot. Fav
January 16th, 2014
I love this. Someone once told me that the best photographs have only three main elements and I think this is a perfect example of this with the track, the tree and the sky. Fav
January 16th, 2014
wow this pic has it all, lines, texture, curves - FAV !!!
January 16th, 2014

I agree with Ann, STUNNING. Had to fav and just love the tree in this. Superb POV.

You have a real eye for composition. Great use of the standard rules of thirds and leading lines. Fav.
January 17th, 2014
Funny that you find it hard to return to colour. You were the master of those colourful landscapes, but I must admit they look just as good, if not better in B&W.
January 17th, 2014
Oh WOW. That's gorgeous.
And yes, it was sad news .. bless them both
