I'm a few days behind here, we've been in London, of which more to follow.
It has been a big week for Ben. On Tuesday he was told by his consultant that his heart operation in March has been a success and they are very happy with how things are with his heart.
This is a real watershed for us as a family, because we have never been told several months post op that everything is fine. We have alway sbeen told that he would need further major surgery within 3-5 years. Whilst we expected thi snews based on Ben's fitness levels, it still needed confirming once ECGs and scans had taken place.
Then, on Wednesday evening, Ben went to his first ever gig without us. With a friend, he went to Nottingham's Rock City to see the Black Veil Brides. He is somewhere in this queue! They both had an amazing time.
My first gig was 36-37 years ago, and was Thin Lizzy!! To this day, my Dad has no idea I went. I asked if I could, was told no, but bought a ticket with mates and went anyway. He thought I was at a mates house!!
I thought about tidying out the bokeh but think it adds to the atmosphere of the scene. I'd be interested in peoples thoughts on this.
Fabulous news for you as family. Very pleased for you. Great way to celebrate!, my first concert was a night before a practise exam for English to see m people.....
Love your shot and report on Ben. What a relief to know his procedure worked so well! That's an awesome light burst! How sneaky of you to just go to the concert! I wouldn't have thought you a rebel! Glad you did it!
I am so glad the news was good, that's great. Love the shot. Think the bokeh is perfect for the venue. Hope Ben had a great time. As for you? Who'd have thought?b
No the bokeh is good.......it definitely adds to the feel of the photo....the flare too is an amazing touch.......you can feel what it's like to be out on the town. Hope Ben enjoyed it...well I'm sure Ben enjoyed it after such fantastic news....so relieved for you all...a great weight off your minds.
Birmingham odeon, May 1980! Top night!
Really great news about Ben, hopefully the light at the end of the tunnel continues to grow brighter. Give him our best wishes, hope he enjoyed the gig. Oh and this is a terrific shot Sean. :)
The bokeh is a great addition with the light burst, adds to the feel of the evening excitement. Great news on Ben, thats a starburst on it's own! Best wishes to you all.
Love the lights and glitz here. It creates excitement. Thanks for sharing the awesome news. That is perfect! My first concert, I had to go with a friends parent as a chaperone. I remember going on a late night date the way you described, though. Spent the night with a friend so I could stay out late. Turns out it was for a loser anyway. What was your first show? Mine was Chicago. How cheesy is that?
Great news about Ben, you just all be very relieved.
I love this shot, it really sets the scene for a great night out. Think Rock City would like it too!
Mine was Bob Dylan and Santana at Blackbush. Can't remember the year , but must have been the 70's.
Oh no just remembered, it was Hot Chocolate in Weymouth in about 1971.
