Peterborough Market. by seanoneill

Peterborough Market.

A shot from the hip street shot in Peterborough market, hence cutting the subjects feet off!

It is a free world I know, but it always saddens me to see young people smoking. We all have our vices, me included, but I can think of no redeeming feature for smoking.
The cigarette kind of fits in her world - very contemplative shot

Smoking was always portrayed as sophistication and glamour. I think nowadays youngsters see it as cool? This image does I think portray the grubby image. By that I mean the horrible smell that lingers around smokers.

She doesn't look as if she is getting much pleasure out of it... suits the grunge look. well taken and processed

Marvellous. Love the composition and symmetry. Street shots - something else I shy away from but would love to have a go at

Nice 'social comment' sort of image, Sean, and sympathetically edited in mono and with grain. Fav

She looks terribly sad - perhaps smoking is her solace ...

The central position keeps this image so grounded - like bold statement. FAv!

I like the composition with the lines above leading the eye down to her. Great candid and we don't need her feet in the picture!

very nice capture with wonderful lines...makes you wonder what is on her mind.

Love the set up of this photo and the processing. Just lovely. Shame for her that she is smoking, but it adds atmosphere to the shot!

Great shot. I agree. In Australia we have (I think) probably the strictest laws on smoking of any country, and they have certainly succeeded in making it a very antisocial thing to do. However as a teacher I was always catching kids down behind the trees ... they still have their reasons I guess. And their stories, like you say.

She looks like she is struggling and sad. Very expressive portrait.

Love the gritty feel of the shot. She looks a little....how would you say...tough.

We all have to make our own mistakes Sean! Can't learn them from anyone else. Super candid and I do like your processing.
