Tenby ~ 23 by seanoneill

Tenby ~ 23

Another shot of Tenby beach from our recent trip. Colour shot in other album.

Grad filter applied in Photoshop.

A lazy bank holiday today, though it still means a couple of hours work! Recharging the batteries after a 14 hour day yesterday running beer festivals and supplying beer to a wedding.
A stunning mono capture.

I like the houses and their reflections, just seen now there is a colour version too so I'm off to view that.

Super b\w effect. Everything stands out so well. Love the great expanse of beach space and water ripples. Great composition.

Beautiful!

That darkening of the sky certainly makes the hotel stand out, Sean, although I find it almost too oppressive. Did you try cropping off the top quarter? But I love the composition and those broken reflections.

@yrhenwr I did David, and I felt it unbalanced the presentation because the beach became too dominant. One of those photos that was bound to create some views about the darkness of the sky when I added the grad filter in SFX Pro. I felt it was just a bit to safe with a paler grey sky. Feedback definitely appreciated though, as always, and taken in the right spirit.

@seanoneill And I appreciate the spirit in which you take the suggestions Sean. I might have known you would have already tried it! I have been reflecting on my photography and the pros and cons of 365. I hope to follow your lead in posting as and when… and I look forward to critiques.

@yrhenwr Thanks David, I think you and I are long enough in the tooth on 365 to appreciate each other's views and skills.

365 is a strange animal I think. Most of the time I feel that I have little place in this community because I don't take a photo or post a photo a day, and sometimes (like now) I have time to post but no time to comment.

This creates an interesting juxtaposition if you will.

On the one hand I no longer partake of the original spirit of the site, but on the other, I have a small group of friends around the world who I would hate to walk away from.

I like to think that we have created our own small 365 universe where we have redefined what we originally started doing, and are all happy to maintain old friendships when space, time and photographic desire allow. No point taking a photo just for the sake of it, and there we are back at the start of this incoherent ramble again, questioning if we should be here, and saying yes, but on my own terms!

Wow this is gorgeous!

@seanoneill Yes, we have reached similar conclusions, Sean. I have spent the last couple of days comparing the prints I have done in the past 7 or 8 years with my 365 uploads… almost all of the prints pre-date my involvement with 365. There is more variety in the 365 shots (so it has made me try new styles) but I don't think the quality is there. It's a difficult one for me…. in recent years I have more than once remarked that quality is getting in the way of creativity! Naturally I don't count creativity with Photoshop as true photographic creativity!! :-)

My heart's with this b&w version, the tones are great and I think having the reflections in mono brings out the lines.

Great shot Sean.
