Nostalgia

Sam and Ben browsing in a record store in Soho recently. Reminds me of many hours spent browsing in Subway Records in Southampton as a lad.

Ben tirned 15 yesterday and Sam is currently having the time of his life on Hockey Tour in South Africa with school. He has been gone a week and boy do I miss him.
Funny how times come round again...my grandson is into original vinyl records...who would have thought? Your boys will be such great company for you...man to man & all that!

@happypat They are Pat, I am bereft without my Sam, though consoled that he is checking in regularly and having a whale of a time!

I used to do the same thing during lunch break at school. Can't remember buying anything though!
I like the hard b&w and border here, it suits the room better than a colour image would, even with all the colourful album covers.

Rough trade? Good to see cabaret Voltaire on display there.

...and the Hawkwind albums too, ahh remember the classic "The Aubergine That Ate Rangoon" ? Sold 95% of my albums , just kept a few for old times sakes. Did photograph all the sleeves was going to make a canvas with them all as tiles...mmm must do that, or at least start and post my results as they come to fruition?

I used to spend many an hour trolling through vinyl. My vinyl is in storage in the UK and I hope when I return they are still in good condition after all that rain. Your shot has certainly brought back lots of happy memories! B&W perfect for this! sorry to hear you are missing your son, I miss my daughter who is in the UK but Skype and social media are a wonderful tool to keep in touch.

Hawkwind - Masters of the Universe! I visit record stores and fairs and collect vinyl from the 70's and 80's that can't be found in other formats.

I'm not sure if there are any record stores left in Southampton any more.
Unless you count HMV. Which I don't. ;)

@humphreyhippo the original subway used to be on Manchester St by the old bus station. And as the name suggests it was in a cellar! I spent hours and hours there in the late 70s on Saturdays. I would cycle into twin to save the bus fare so I could have more to spend on records. Still own some of them!

@seanoneill I still have some records... but no record player. ;)

Oh, happy days - love the memories this brings back! Nostalgia indeed. Great processing as always.
Belated Happy Birthday to Ben. Hope he enjoyed his day. It feels strange when you're not all together to celebrate their birthdays, doesn't it? It's rarely possible to see either of our two on theirs, rare that we can *all* get together on the day, I should be used to it by now but I'm not. Sorry for the waffle.

Belated birthday to Ben too. A great shot of them together, not always possible as they grow older.
