Summer Solstice Cyclist (wearing only body paint) Ride Begins To Start The Two Day Event Of The Fremont Fair!
Founded in 1972, the Fremont Fair is one of Seattle’s most beloved neighborhood street festivals, featuring a weekend of eclectic activities that celebrate the quirky community of Fremont, the self-proclaimed “center of the universe.” Held annually in mid-June to coincide with the Summer Solstice, the event draws more than 100,000 people to shop, eat, drink, mingle, groove, and enjoy all manners of creative expression. Artistic highlights include craft and art booths, street performers, local bands, wacky decorated art cars, the free-spirited Solstice Parade.
Oh I miss Seattle SO much! I remember the first year a "streaker-biker" busted through the parade. What a scandal! And of course, Fremonters make it a tradition.
Well I must say, I'm surprised the poice are not there making arrests. I've nevr seen so much "crack" at one place :) I don't know, but that doesn't seem like it would be a comfortable ride, especially for the guys, LOL
Well, Boeing field got a heavy mist all morning, they stopped the heliocopter rides because of fog over Seattle. Fortunately, I made it up on the fourth trip.
My husband and I had this on our agenda but just ran out of time and with the weather so drizzly we just decided to stay at the airshow. It sounds though that people didn't loose any paint in the weather. Hahaha!!! Great shots.
@dmortega Thanks it was such a rainy day and not the best to be out with your SLR camera! But I love the spirit of the riders, not phased by the weather! @attraversi Ha, I really tried hard to get a "discreet" shot to post!!
Talking about discreet shots .... the Seattle Flickrites group was there and got some great shots. The flickr site blocked a couple of them because of my settings. Hahahaha!!!! Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing because there were plenty of shots that made the cut. ;-)
How do they get away with it? I guess the police turn a blind eye, haha. I was going to ask if there was more than one in the last photo. Just answered my question! I totally love it.
@seattle and one of the many reasons why I need to move to Seattle, lol. If they even tried to do that in NC, the church people would all come out and beat them with their bibles.
Missed it this year as I was out of town. Some coworkers and I were wondering Monday how the body paint held up in the rain. Seems to have done okay. Truely, I just can't imagine participating for soooo many reasons.
Still was a little cold for the attire.
