I have seen a lot of the water shots on here and I thought that since I had time, that I would try one. Well I realized that I couldn't get as close as I wanted without completely drenching my camera. The missus was at work and kiddo was asleep so I didn't have another model at the time, besides he doesn't like water on his face.
I would probably never had the idea or courage to take a self portrait before this project and I already have 3 on here! I think it looks better using the magnifier but I don't know if you really want to see a big picture of my ugly mug!
Critique welcomed and encouraged!
I personally believe that a persons's interpretation of the subject is, most times, more important and more... learn more
@jodimuli If you are referring to my camera, nope, normal camera. @chrisra Thank you @ldpaul I propped the shower door open, and put the camera about 6 feet from the opening, I had an external flash on it to cut the shadows. I aimed the spray away from the door and towards the wall behind me to keep it in the shower as much as possible. I just zoomed in until I had the framing I wanted and used the self timer. Man it was cold climbing in and out of the shower. I ended up taking about 30 shots before I was happy! I cropped it to eliminate some of the extra space in the frame.
ooooo, lets all do shower shots! Not together though, that would be creepy....no idea where I'm going with this but, obviously love the photo, your persistence paid off!
@semrants nice!! We can photoshop us all in there like a photobooth..lol @shadesofgrey awesome portrait..ive been to scared of doing this as well for my cameras sak
@saclunch I hope you can figure out a way to get it done. I got lucky as the shower is mostly contained, I don't think I could have gotten away with it otherwise, but the floor was soaked even with mats and towels on it, so watch your step!
In my minds eye, I see one of you side shot head tilted back with the water spraying your face. Don't know if you tried that or not, and I don't have the hair for it! How were they rubbish? Looking at other water shots on here it seems they used a flash to highlight the water and a fastish shutter to freeze the water and the spray. Don't know if that was what you were going for or not.
I was aiming for a picture of my eye make-up running down my face but instead, it stung like a bitch so it burnt my eyes and I had panda eyes instead of dramatic I-just-cried eyes. IDK hard to explain but they were bleh.
@indiannie_jones Oh,...ouch. I'm picking up what you're putting down. Maybe put the shadow on the lower lid, that way it runs down, but not into your eyes and less panda eyes? IDK, just trying to help out. Don't think it will hurt my feelings if you don't try my theories.
I've given up on it :) but thank you! I legitimately have 0 inspiration for tonight and it's 11:34pm :((((( and I'm not being funny here, I literally have NO pictures and no ideas.
@indiannie_jones nope, dude seems serious, does it for a job so I'm sure he gets more than his fair share of shit about it!
Hope this inspires you! a la @craigdtull and take a picture in your bathroom or maybe by flashlight!!
This is really cool, reminds me of being out in a rainstorm. And thank you for the credit it really means a lot to me that someone thought enough of a photo of mine.
@coolgirlsar Well you are welcome, that was an awesome shot you got, I don't know if you are planning on framing it, but it would be a good one for his room or the bathroom, or wherever, but totally worth framing!
@chrisra Thank you

Serious answer: No, I don't mind at all, I'm actually trying to find the photo that inspired me so I can give credit to that photographer.
Smarmy answer: Do I really have to go there or can you figure it out? x__0
