So I was talking in the last photo about a ski hill close to town....this is it, kinda. It's huge and this is a terrain park near the bottom. This hill is so laid back. They didn't bat an eye when I asked about hiking up to the terrain park and taking some shots. No snotty "Well you'll have to buy a ticket" or some other nonsense. Hell, they let you pay by the hour if you really want to and the bunny hill is free!
Critique welcomed and encouraged!
I personally believe that a persons's interpretation of the subject is, most times, more important and more... learn more
ok - so i'll comment... bearing in mind i know so very little about the techniques and rules of photography :) i really like the bright red and sense of moving so fast the subject is already leaving the composition... i'm trying to decide about whether i like the trees being in focus to the degree that they are - espec as the skier is a bit blurred by motion... but i think on balance, for me at any rate, it all goes to emphasize the speed of the skier... someone who is just exuberantly passing thru... (and how nice that they let you in for free to take shots :D)
@echoia I would have loved to get the angle to get him "riding the wires" but he was on the far side of the jump from me so I got as low as I could.
Do you save for web maybe? The size is 4288x1537 pixels and 300 dpi... When I click save as in PS I go with the defaults that it gives me quality is 8 and high, the file size is + or - 1MB and the pixels ratio/dpi is what it comes out as when I look at the properties of the photo.... that is all I do and all of mine have worked with the magnifier.
@northy Thank you for your thoughts...I could care less about your knowledge of techniques and rules. If you know the stuff and can tell me how to apply it to make it better, great I'm all ears. If you don't, tell me what you like/don't like, chances are I can figure out what I did and make it better next time. This was actually a quick shot... I thought I was focused at the right distance and then I was playing around in between skiers and taking shots of the chairlift when this guy snuck up he was going so fast I just had to snap and hope I got him. I might go back next weekend and if I do, I'm going to use a faster shutter and lower aperture (f stop) so maybe I can freeze the motion better. I put this one up because it was one of 3 or 4 that actually came out. I was positioned all wrong and most of the time, the skiers blended into the trees, not a very good backdrop. I kinda wanted to see what people would say when I put it on here. Thanks for the compliments and you're welcome back anytime.
awesome capture - took me a moment to realize that the skier wasn't part of the lift (but then, I'm somewhat sleep deprived right now, and I have "old" eyes, so ignore me)! hope you got to the snow rodeo because that sounds like something to see!
Mine don't ever get bigger even though I upload them about 2x what the site shows.

Go back and see if you can't get a skier more in focus!
You better unfollow me then, cause I'm gonna be taking photos around here for a while :)
