The Brick by shadesofgrey

The Brick

photo 437
Argus C-3 I found at an indoor rummage sale for $30 (18 GBP) I looked it up online because the lady selling it said they are going for twice as much....some are, some are going for about what I paid for it....BUT thats without the flash. I looked the flash up and the only one I could find for sale was going for 24 GBP so like $39!!! Score... The flash is collapsible. You might be able to see the little notches on the bottom blade, take the main blade out of that notch and it un-fans (its a word now, cause I said so!) and folds up and detaches from the camera....

It really feels like a brick too, pretty heavy..and I have never had a rangefinder before but now I understand the prefocus stuff Jase is always going on about when he is describing his settings. I happened to have a extra roll of Kodak 200 in it so I have got off a couple of shots already, but I'm just learning so it might be a bit before I go through this roll, slow and steady.

Here's a closeup of the camera:

OMG...that's awesome! Lucky you! I guess I need to check more yard sales, rummage sales, second hand stores and the like, same as you and @beautifulthing.

I got that flash too, but do they still make the battery. I've got the little bulbs in a pack but the 15v battery mine takes looks an odd size and shape. They are lovely looking though. This is a sweet looking setup, well done for the good purchase.

@38mm hey did I tell you I got a Rollei 35?
pictures to follow, when it arrives, and super cheap.

@5unflow3r There were 3 Agfa box cameras there. I almost bought one of them and was going to ask the vendor lady about it when the kiddo pulled me away. I'm glad I didn't because I wouldn't have been able to justify this one too, but I'm kicking myself for not because she wanted $8 and I found one online going for $24....ah well.

@38mm Don't overbid...I found quite a bunch for a variety of prices...some with all the manuals and the leather case for less than I paid (at least until someone else bids on it.) However, I only saw the one flash like the one I got....

@chewyteeth Thanks...I was wondering about that too. It still has the batteries in it so I have a starting point..not sure about finding the bulbs, shouldn't be too hard, I would think. Congrats on the Rollei.

@shadesofgrey No worries I'm the king of budget when on ebay (due to be very poor at the moment), I hardly ever win on anything :)

@chewyteeth I may need to Quality Control that as well

I only ever had simple cameras .. sunny or cloudy being the two choices BUT mry dad bought me one of those fan out flashes . I was so proud , and therefore have 55 year old indoor shots of my sisters.
Priceless

@mstipe @hjbenson I'm not gonna lie, I kinda fell in love with it!

@pwallis It should be really fun! Kinda getting bored with digital at the moment, my photos are all starting to look the same, and not in a good way...post processing is starting to take over.

@peterdegraaff I'm jealous you can get that in person, I have access only because of the magic of the interwebs....or I have to drive 110 miles (177 Km) to the nearest photo shop....big box stores don't count

@shadesofgrey Guess I am lucky have to commute 110km through traffic into inner city, and the lab is light at end of tunnel. How I suffer for my art! lol
