@soozieqt : Thank you! Well, it was actually very easy to do. All these birds are sitting in or in front of little wooden houses, so the background was dark. I just went down with the exposure compensation and focussed on the brightest part of his face... that's all. :-)
Do you mean the weekly top 20? If so, I don't understand how this couldn't have gotten on as there are some with far fewer views and favs that did. Not to mention that your photos are lacking absolutely nothing. I don't comment much, but I admire your skills and many of your photos are far better than a lot that make the top 20.
@shadowdancer Nothing missing in this at all, its just not 1-a portrait or 2-a cat. I still believe this is an amazing photography and worthy of far higher places than 365. I would send it to National Geographic and other places like that. : )

Over the past one and a half years, I've entered many pictures to the weekly themes, but none of my pictures ever made it to the votings, so I'm wondering if anything is missing in my pictures. It will make the top 20...I was sure it would make the final 5 for the vote...mine is in there too...and I had some high hopes as well...but as I see...it seems they wanted portraits...not stuff. oh well, THIS ONE will be top 20 it is incredible...I was sure it would make #1 for the low key.
I don't see anything lacking here. This really is spectacular and I predict top 20 for sure. But now I'm curious to see what Howard's friend did to your photo.

Have to admit, though, that with all the response it got, I was hoping it would make it to the final vote, but it wasn't meant to be. Something crucial must be missing in my pictures; they never make it.
