For years, I tried to get a picture of a dragonfly: No chance, because I could never get close enough with my 60mm 1:1 macro lens. Gave it another try today with my new tele lens. Not 100% sharp, but it turned out better than I thought is would. Wouldn't have been possible with my old tele.
I would like to add: Thank you to everyone who commented on my latest pictues; and thanks for the many fav's also. The response was simply overwhelming! :-)
I think you've done well. They are hard to get, aren't they!! I got one a while back and he just hung around and let me take shots.... but that was a first!!!
First class shot. Could just be the best close-up I've seen in ages! Your new lens is doing well for you. I see your hawk is on the sign-up page!! Congrats.
@cornefunproject : Thank you! yes, I liked the lighting here, too. :-) @ozziehoffy : Thank you! So true, they're VERY fast, and first I thought it was impossible to get a shot. Then I noticed they loved to rest on that dry plant for some reason. :-) @ellida : Thanks a lot for saying that, Graham; means a lot! :-) Just checked the sign-up page, and I saw that both my hawk picture AND my eagle picture are there. Wow, I'm beginning to love my new lens! ;-))
It is great close up! Your new lenses are fantastic! I have just opened a theme called Your favorite macro of bugs, insects.....I would like to see your photo there! Fav also!
@vodena : Thank you! I would gladly post the picture there, but technically, it's not a macro; I used a focal length of 300mm, and I was about 2 metres away from the dragonfly.
This is Amazing! and i ususally get my best close up's with this lens~ except i use the Nikon 70-30mm lets you get close up without scaring them away!! FAV!
I'm very late in commenting at your pics, but I have to comment on all of them, they are all so good! Love the dragonfly looking at you, the lighting and details
