@shamrockinmom Well I like it very much Sherry, and thank you so much for taking the time to go and shoot this again, what a lovely day!
I always apply two tests to a tree shot. If there is nothing else going on in the shot, you can put it in the middle or on a 3rds line and have a nice bit of blue sky above it and around it. say about 10-15% of the shot. If there are other things in the shot that can add interest, create strong 3rds lines or lead you in then have the tree on a 3rd line, and decide whether it is best to have the whole tree in or not. Not knowing what is going on around this tree it is difficult to decide, but I prefer this shot to the other 2, without having seen it in the middle with blue sky above.
Here is a tree I shot a few months ago. By getting low or below the tree I think you would lose the river and get a very different perspective.
This has a lot going for it with the sunflare, silhouetted tree and beautiful blue morning sky. Thank you my friend, that was very kind of you, and it is so lovely to have you back on 365.
@monika64 Thanks Monika. I'm not sure what you mean by layering as I didn't do any layering that I'm aware of -- ha! :) I did adjust the exposure a bit because the grass was a bit dark. I didn't even crop it. It still isn't quite what I wanted...but I may go back again and work on it mid day -- but alas tomorrow is suppose to be snow! Yikes.
@seanoneill I love your tree shot. Awesome. This tree is close to a little pagoda structure...I had this brill idea that I would shoot it facing the west with the sun behind...but alas, I forget that in the horizon you could see small houses and such and that ruined it for me. I will keep working and trying...most of what I do is from the hip -- little planning...but I'm trying to learn more about the technical pieces to create the art. I love your work Sean and really do appreciate your help and comments. This was fun going back to the tree and I missed a bit of work. :) I may try again over the weekend if the snow/rain isn't too bad...could be cool...need to try again before beans are all gone :(
@shamrockinmom That sounds great Sherry. A silhouette of the pagoda and tree would work I'm sure. Sometimes though you doend up with the right subject in the wrong place, in which case I tend to keep the idea in my head and look for somewhere else to take it ;)) Thank you for the kind words about my project. I am humbled.
