This is a staged shot of my daughter and me playing Mancala, which is traditional game. I did try taking shots of play, but we were moving too fast. This is for this week's 52 week Dogwood challenge which is: Story Telling: Ageing
Love it or hate it, ageing is something we all experience. So tell us the story of Ageing in a single photograph.
About the Story Telling category:
“Good photographers can take beautiful images of something. Great photographers can tell a story with an image. In this category you will take a prompt and turn it into a photographic story.”
Three good things:
1. Had a fun evening playing games - not just Mancala but Isle of Skye too.
2. I managed to eat 9/10 portions of fruit and veg today.
3. My daughter got out for a couple of walks today and hasn't needed the type 1 anti-histamine so far
Thank you for looking and your amazing comments, favs and support. I prefer to spend time looking at your pictures rather than thanking your individually below.
How funny! We resurrected our game of Mancala when we had lots of friends round on New Year's Day. Hubby transformed the evening into a Mancala Tournament. None of our friends knew the game before and half of them are now addicted to it! We've had it for years, and I think we picked it up whilst living in Nigeria. It's fun.
@jamibann I learned it working in a primary school running a lunchtime games club and went on to buy my own to work with other young people. I've taken it into Guides for one of the World Cultures badges. So I've played it a lot and my daughter hasn't, so it's a bit like me playing her at Love Letter, I thrash her at Mancala, she thrashes me at Love Letter. We're a lot more even at Isle of Skye.
i am so behind with the 52-week challenge. no motivation whatsoever. we had a similar game back in the old country but we use shells instead of the glass beads although i am sure glass beads are now de rigueur.
