It’s heating up at last, with the sort of sunset that you only seem to get in hot weather – a sort of burning glow with plenty of heat left in it. With more hot weather forecast, evening dog walks will be later when it is a bit cooler. With proper timing I experience swooping swallows on the way out, and bats dancing around my head on the way home, each enjoying the harvest of insects that appear over the grasses and crops in the cool humid evening. On this particular evening I tried to capture a swooping swallow as at skimmed across the rape. No chance.
