This farm track links a couple of the walks that we do, leading across some higher ground across a bridge over the M69 to the farm buildings on the far side of the motorway. We can either cross the bridge and then turn away from the farm to follow a footpath to the village of Thurlaston, a mile or so further on, or we can leave the track before the bridge, walking downhill to join a tree lined path behind a sandpit, the route that we use eventually ending in Huncote, the village in the opposite direction. The sandpit, which is almost empty of extractable sand, has started using the farm to park some of the excavation vehicles, which leave the stony track distinctly muddy after rain. At this time of year muddy dogs are inevitable.
Great glimpse of the reflection in the water! The rest of the pools are a gorgeous blue. It's all about perspective, isn't it? For a view like this, putting up with a muddy dog is okay!
