As I strolled along a tree lined footpath not far from home, a vivid yellow butterfly caught my eye, flying across on front of me before disappearing into a hawthorn hedge. The hedge was young, not densely growing, and the landing place of the butterfly was obvious, but when I peered into the hedge, the butterfly had disappeared. Such vivid yellow wings should have been obvious, but of course the butterfly was now displaying leafy green under-wings, less likely to attract the attention of a passing bird, and was only with effort that I spotted it. Even then, I had trouble locating it through my camera lens, and it took a few minutes to get a shot. Having done so, I looked up to see a man lurking behind a bush a few yards away. He was also out for a stroll, and having seen the lead-less dogs, and me obviously otherwise engaged in a hawthorn hedge, decided that discretion was the better part of valour, and waited for me to finish before proceeding, even though the dogs had clearly seen, and ignored, him.
I wish you happiness!
