At the top of Whistler Mountain, there was, as you would expect, fantastic views in all directions from the summit, although with a distinctly chilly breeze blowing from the surrounding peaks. We met more mountain bikers, launching themselves down the steep track for a rapid descent (but hopefully controlled) to Whistler village. At least, unlike winter visitors, they have brakes. I speak from experience, although not on Whistler. @shepherdmanswife and I followed a short trail that led to a rocky outcrop at the edge of the main accessible area for an open cliff top view, and then along a separate trail to more cliff edge rocks before returning to the main summit area. We passed a “Trail Closed” sign from the wrong side, trying to climb inconspicuously over the chain crossing the trail – apparently we had somehow trespassed onto forbidden territory.
Fabulous view and scenery! These people that do these downhill rides are fearless! Bet they don't get much chance to take in the beautiful surroundings.
What a great shot. It was amazing to see the mountain bikers take their bikes up to the top and bike all the way down. I guess it's good use of a ski slope in summer! Fav
