I spotted this spider near to the bottom of Shannon Falls, Squamish during our Canadian trip. I was actually scrambling across rocks and logs to get a shot of @shepherdmanswife and our friend from Squamish, who, at my request, had also scrambled across the rocks and logs, and were now perched precariously on a boulder, with the Falls behind them. They waited patiently while I photographed the spider. Oh, all right, they weren’t very patient, since they couldn’t actually see why I had stopped, and was apparently messing about with my camera, photographing what, from where they were sitting, was some perfectly ordinary shrubbery, when I had a much more attractive view just waiting to be captured. Them.
I finally decided that I had better take note of the shouts and grumbles from the base of the Falls, and went to get my shot of the falls, enhanced by @shepherdmanswife and our friend. Naturally @shepherdmanswife photographed the spider as she was returning to the path.
Incidentally our Squamish friend hates spiders, and keeps a spider stick by the back door. As she goes down the garden on a summer morning, she vigorously waves the stick in front of her, like a fencing contestant without an opponent, brushing away the webs that lie across the path.
