A proper November morning at last; misty, damp, muddy and autumnal. @shepherdmanswife has spent the day in Derbyshire photographing waterfalls, and so it was a double dog walk this morning, a short one with both dogs, since Lesia is definitely slower now that the weather is cool and damp, and then a much longer one with younger Tia. It was a chance to walk one of the longer routes, along paths that we haven’t traversed for a while, and we discovered some autumn colours emerging from the mist. The most vivid were cultivated trees, like this one in the next village, which we passed on the last leg of our stroll. The bridge crosses Thurlaston Brook, and this stretch of road is periodically under water in winter. The trees in the mist behind are on the hill around the quarry edge. By the time that we got home we were both wet and muddy – at least the mud washes off short-haired Tia. Poor long haired Lesia has to be hosed, and is wet for hours, not good at her age. Come to think about, being wet and muddy is not good at my age either.
What an absolutely lovely walk this must be. My husband and I are contemplating a walking tour of various parts of England year after next - check out my old home of Bath, perhaps. This is a very lovely area too.
The colours are amazing, and I really like the fog. I like the touch of blue, whatever is is ;-) FAV
The colours are gorgeous. I'm sure Lesia would love to take longer walks. It's always difficult when an older dog cannot keep up or do the distance without experiencing pain or discomfort. I hope the cold weather doesn't affect her too much.
