A trip to Lake Vyrnwy, Wales, where last year one of the marked trails promised open views across the reservoir, but delivered steep Forestry Commission tracks through dense dark woodland. This year elderly German Shepherd Lesia is only able to manage short walks and so we followed the short trail to the Sculpture Park, descending steps below the dam, with views through the top of the dam and across the reservoir before we continued down to the warm and sunny sheltered Sculpture Park below the massive Victorian stonework of the dam. The dam took 5 years to build, and the blocked river flowed over the top of the dam just a year later. Looking out at the rain from our cottage I have no problems believing this.
