Depending on how long I take to prepare for the day with mug of tea and newspaper, the morning dog walk at this time of the year may be pre-dawn, post dawn, or we may see the sun rise above the trees around the Quarry edge. If the morning is misty I must choose whether to descend the field track into the foggy layers of the riverside Cows Field, or ascend Croft Hill to see trees and hedges welcome the dawn with their roots still mist-bound. Of course, since I cannot be in two places at once, I never know whether I have made the right decision, but generally I am content to enjoy my surroundings whatever the elevation
