Highland Cow by shepherdman

Highland Cow

They look fiercesome but are gentle beasts. This one in the Yorkshire Dales was quite happy to wander over to the field gate for a handful of grass and say hello to the dogs (who were a bit intimidated). Some members of the Gloucestershire branch of my "extended family" refer to these as "Mucklecoos". Anyone else use this phrase?
Beautiful beast. Fav. Not heard of mucklecoos in this part of Gloucestershire though.

One of ours was not so gentle and would charge us. We pretended to be matadors! You do wonder how they can see!

It's almost camouflaged in the long grass. We saw some one day when we were driving around and that's what he called them too. I guess he heard it somewhere as the highland cattle are scarce herein NC/USA as is the the term mucklecoo.

Great shot, lovely light. No I haven't heard of mucklecoos before either, although I've lived in the North East and in Scotland
