East Somerton Church by shepherdman

East Somerton Church

We came across this ruined church in the middle of Norfolk woodland. It would once have been a large church with glorious architecture at the edge of a tiny hamlet. The 14th century church once served the local community until two parishes combined, a neighbouring church serving the parish. Until 17th century it served a local manor house, but then fell into disuse.
Beautiful and sad together. You have captured beauty and a story.

What a find. I like the stong feeling I get from the stonework and large tree trunk.
