At least I think that they are common reeds, grouped between a field edge and rough grassland, an area that stays damp through all seasons. The land owner has dredged nearby ditches to help drainage, but I still get surprised when striding out in boots, not wellies, with an occasional boot full of muddy water to remind me of the wet.
