This is Muffin one of our 3 cats. She is 5 years old and is a seal-point tabby 'Ragdoll'. She has the typical large blue eyes of the Ragdoll breed which are beautiful. Ragdolls are supposed to relax and go limp when picked up. This is not true in Muffins case! Having said that, she is a very laid back cat. She gets on extremely well with our 2 dogs, in fact the cats are definitely the 'top dogs' in the household!
Muffin has never caught a bird, mouse, rat, vole etc, but did once present us with a live frog which was not harmed and was carefully put back by the pond. She spends her days indoors until we get home and then goes out into the garden to chase butterflies. She can't catch those either! Ragdolls as a breed are quite a heavy, chunky cat, hence her lack of agility, thank goodness!
@shepherdmanswife yes having a lovely fun packed time but have to admit I have already texted home to,check on the animals. Saski is apparently fine. (I amt not very good at going away!)
She is gorgeous, that eye is a blue jewel. Love pov here, fav for me. So glad the frog was not hurt and that she enjoys the butterflies but doesn't catch them.
Very nice. Fav. What a cooperative kitty. Thanks for the info. My kids would like a cat but I'm hesitant to get just any cat. This sounds like a good breed.
@flutterby22 Gosh, what can I say to that comment except Wow! Thank you so much. Glad you sorted out the FAV thing. Now you can collect your favourites in your own album. It also helps photos get to the PP!
I'm afraid I have a big phobia of cats, even looking at them sends a shiver down my back, but found it hard not to comment on such a beautiful shot, great blue in the eye. Congrats making the PP page with this.
@claireuk I think its in the breeding! Ragdolls are known for this character! Now, Inca, my Somali, is a different kettle of fish! see my first photo on 365 on 24 june 2013 @shepherdmanswife/365/2013-06-24
I found this beautiful shot in the 'Popular' section, and having looked through the rest of your photos, I had to follow you :-) (and, of course, fav this one :-))
Beautiful capture of her. She is a gorgeous cat. i used to have a Ragdoll cat called Raggamuffin and he was far from being laid back. He was very aggressive. He was hit by a car and died unfortunately.
My ragdoll cat (Ruby) is only 1/2 a ragdoll but she has all the traits of a ragdoll. Mine is a wonderful companion, relaxed, happy, follows us around like a dog, loves to be close, chats away to me. loves lying on her back and can go limp in the arms. Best of all she adores group hugs. A cousin of mine spend lots of $$ for a pure breed and acts nothing like a ragdoll. Gorgeous photo.
@shepherdmanswife I was actually thinking about the cropping all day yesterday until I figured it out. You showed so little ear that the viewer unconsciously sees "cat's face." Ironically, if you'd included just a little more, it WOULD have been cropped to tightly! The viewer would have seen "cat's head" and asked, "Where are the rest of the ears?" That's what happens to me all the time with my cats, and this is a lesson I'll try to take to heart!
@therubysusan You are so right! I hadn't thought about it, I just liked the crop, but now that you have said all that, it is so true. I wouldn't have cropped less because it would have looked like I'd chopped her ear off.!
Nice to know my photo has been thought provoking!
@joluise Jo I forgot to mention how vocal they can be when wanting some fuss. She also sits right up close to my face and gently sticks her paw on my face to get my attention! She's so adorable. BTW you're so right about cross breeds being just a good at a fraction of the price!
