The reflections on this lake were amazing. The pile of rocks had been built by someone else. You see these piles everywhere, up mountains and at sides of lakes.I can't remember their meaning.
All of these photos of the lakes and mountains you are posting are truly breathtaking! I need to go hiking!!
The rock arrangements are called 'Carins' and have been long used by hikers as 'trail markers' for fellow trail travelers. It's often very easy to get off track when hiking without a groomed trail. Thankfully, so many people make these now, it's usually pretty easy to find one if you get off track.
It is so easy to see beautiful scenery in Canada, but you have caught the light and depth well here.
We have cairns marking walking trails but these are more Rick sculptures. We saw a few of them and sometimes made one ourselves; it is fun and very grounding.
There seems to be a "thing" for building cairns is really taking off. There were some out on Peaks the other day. It is a way to mark your passage. This is just a stunning photo.
Inukshuk. Can be found throughout the circumpolar world. Means in the likeness of a human in Inuit. Used by the Inuit for communication and survival. Someone was here or you are on the right path. A memorial, or indicating migration paths or where fish can be found among other things. Is a welcome sight in a featureless or forbidding.landscape. For you stay in the car bear up ahead!
absolutely gorgeous, a huge fav! My daughter worked at the Jasper Park Lodge one year so I went out to visit her. I was blown away by how beautiful that whole area is. Your photos are making me want to go back!!!
Love how your eye goes straight through to the distant mountains and what looks like a narrowing of the water. It's so clear - and colors are reflections are fantastic.
Such spectacular scenery and gorgeously photographed. The reflection on the water makes this image doubly beautiful. Fav, most definitely. A pile of stones like the one here (trial markers) got me out of a dangerous situation in the Rocky Mts. once. It snowed unexpectedly which made hiking back out of the forest after a backpacking trip quite a challenge. It was an especially tall cairn that clued us in that we were headed off in the wrong direction. Thankfully the snow hadn't completely covered it and we noticed it through the trees. I like little piles of rocks!
A lot of times on trails, cairns (piles of rocks) point which way you should go. Sometimes people make them at the end of their destination because it means they reached their goal. Sometimes they are just made because the rocks are there and they are like an art statement. What an awesome spot! FAV
