I took the day off work today and drove 110 miles north up the M1 to Horsforth, Leeds to visit my daughter and my 2 granddaughters aged 2 and 3 years. The journey took me 2 and 3/4 hours to get there. The weather was misty on the motorway, but not too bad. There was 21 miles of 50 mph limit which slows you down, but as soon as the restriction finished and you could do 70 mph the traffic ground to a halt. From there it was stop, start, stop, start. Very frustrating especially as there was no apparent reason, apart from it being very busy. No sooner than the traffic started flowing again I hit the second lot of 50 mph restriction for a further 8 miles. That finished in Leeds, so just another 10 miles to go!
I had a lovely day with them. We went to a park in the drizzle, where the girls played on their scooters and played in muddy puddles!
Luckily my journey home took less than 2 hours despite 29 miles of 50 mph restrictions. No hold ups otherwise. So here is a photo of the park we went to.
It looks a lovely park and I really like your shot. (Mways really faze me. My husband had a puncture on the M3 today while voluntary ambulance car driving - his poor patient was 2 and 1/2 hours late for her radiotherapy - nothing to be done but wait for the breakdown.) Glad you enjoyed your day!
I am glad that you had a safe trip and your special time with your daughter and granddaughters!
This is beautiful! I love how you brought out the last vestige of the colours of Autumn!
Bet it was a fun day with your daughter and grandkids - makes the long drive livable. Do like this composition - the colors showing in the trees showing up again in the foreground is nice. Mist always adds something special to a shot.
Love the leaves in the foreground, the areas of colour in the mist, and just the whole composition. Sounds as if you had a lovely day once you arrived, in spite of the drizzle.
lovely capture of autumn at its best. I sympathize with you over the journey. This summer it took us 6 hours to do a 2 1/2 hr journey - We would have given up except we were going to a christening. British motorways!
